Kidepo Valley National Park
Kidepo Valley National park is a 1442 square kilometer national park, dominated by the 2,750m of Mountain Morungole located in the rugged semi-arid Karamoja province valleys, at the extreme Northeastern side of Uganda bordering in-between South Sudan and Kenya. It is situated near Karenga in Kaabong district, 250km from Moroto town in its northwestern direction. Moroto is the largest and the main town in Karamoja region. Kidepo is 12 hour drive away from kampala city covering a distance of about 560km. Kidepo Valley National Park is Uganda’s most isolated national park and one of the most spectacular parks with scenery unlike any other in East Africa and it offers a beautiful Vista of the breathtaking Savannah and mountain Landscapes which end in a rugged horizon. The few who make the long journey north through the Karamoja region will agree that Kidepo is the most beautiful and magnificent National Park and it ranks among Africa’s finest wildernesses. Senegal Galago and Side striped Jackal, White-tailed Mongoose among other species.
How to get to Kidepo valley national park
Kidepo park can be accessible by both road and air transport
When using road means, there are possible routes to be followed for example a route from Kampala through karuma, Gulu, Kitgum and then to the park for about 10 hours. Route two from Kampala through karuma, Lira, Kotido, Kabong, and then to Kidepo national park for about 12 hours. Third route kampala through Mbale, Soroti, Moroto, kotido, Kaabong and then to Kidepo Park headquarters for about 13 hours’ drive. The fourth route from Kampala through Mbale, Sironko, Moroto, kotido, Kaabong and then to Kidepo National Park for about12 hour drive.
When using air transport means, you will book scheduled charter flights with aero link Uganda or Bar Aviation from Entebbe International airport to Apoka airstrip and then connect to the Kidepo Park
