This exciting 5-day Kenya wildlife and cultural safari combine three key wildlife and cultural destinations. You’ll travel from Nairobi to Lake Naivasha to meet non-predatory wildlife. Then, drive to a cultural camp to gain knowledge about the distinct Maasai way of life. Then head east to the Mara River, in which you’ll go on private game drives in search of elephants, zebras, and lions, which are best seen during the Great Migration.

Day 1: Transfer to Lake Naivasha, boat cruise and walk tour

This safari tour begins with you having an early breakfast, your driver will pick you up from your pre-accommodation facility in Nairobi city to embark on a drive of 2 to 3 hours to Lake Naivasha which is about 120km away from Nairobi using road transport means. Upon arrival, you will check in at your lodge for lunch and some relaxation.

In the afternoon you will go for an enjoyable and relaxing boat cruise across the rift valley lake Naivasha coming in close range with hippos, crocodiles, waterbucks, and countless species of water birds. After such a boat cruise, walk through the lake’s Crescent Island Game Sanctuary, where you’ll see Zebra, Giraffes, Colobus monkeys, and other peaceful, relaxed wild animals. The sanctuary is safe for walks since it is free of predators.

You have the option of visiting two local craftsmen after the walking safari. The first is Fired Earth Pottery, where you can watch a demonstration of how to make handcrafted ceramic objects. The second is Elementaita Weavers, a community cooperative that produces gorgeous handwoven fabrics. Before spinning and weaving it on conventional looms in their workshop, the artisans colour their wool. After having this eventful day you return to your hotel for dinner and a night’s rest

Day 2: Transfer to Maji moto cultural camp, do optional activities

After a leisurely breakfast at your Naivasha hotel, you will be transferred to Maji Moto Masai Cultural Camp, which is approximately 165 kilometres long and takes 3 to 4 hours to reach. The Maji moto cultural camp will provide you with an understanding of the Masai way of life. After reaching you will check in at your lodge for lunch and some relaxation.

At Maji Moto Culture Camp, visitors can experience a taste of the local way of life as well as observe some local fauna whilst studying the preservation, wellness, and education initiatives that tour donations support. Spend time getting to know the locals to discover their traditions, difficulties, and tactics for coping with outside pressures.

In the late afternoon, Visitors can opt to participate in optional activities inside and outside of the Maji Moto camp, such as cycling, hot spring visits, wildlife safaris, warrior training, and rock climbing with Masai warriors to learn about traditional life. You can also visit widow villages to see how people live traditionally, including bead making and manyatta homes. Photography is permitted, and there are possibilities to capture the Masai people, their culture, and their surrounding natural beauty. Day3: Transfer to Masai mara game reserve and do afternoon game drive

Following an early breakfast at the lodge, you will continue your trip by traveling 130 kilometres in two hours to the Masai Mara National Reserve. There, you will check into your hotel for lunch and some relaxation. Before heading out for an afternoon game drive, at which you’ll able to spot wildlife such as elephants, zebra, lions, cheetahs, leopards, giraffes, buffalo, rhinos, and much more. The Masai Mara is swarming with predators such as Big Cats, Hyenas, and Nile Crocodiles. The most well-known residents of the Maasai Mara are large dark-maned lions, which are approximated to total around 3000 in the larger Mara ecosystem. After the game drive you will return to your lodge for dinner and a night’s rest.

Day 4: Morning and afternoon game drives

After a hearty breakfast at your lodge, set out for a full day of the expedition. Keep a lookout for the Masai Mara’s famous big five, which include the lion, savannah (African) elephant, Cape buffalo, leopard, and black rhino. Keep an eye out for any games that may have eluded you on previous game drives. Individuals might even be lucky enough to see a leopard or a cheetah sprint and make a kill.
