Detailed itinerary of the tour

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Nyungwe national park

Our guide will meet you up upon your arrival at the airport, welcome you and brief you about the 7 days Nyungwe and Akagera national parks tour. You’ll then go for a quick city tour around Kigali including a visit to the genocide memorial site where over 250000 people were interred in 1994 and proceed to Nyungwe national park where you will check in to the lodge, have dinner, and overnight rest.

Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking in Nyungwe Forest National Park
On this day, you will have an early morning breakfast and head to the park headquarters for briefing and registration before heading for the chimp trekking activity. Nyungwe forest is home to many unique primates such as Angola monkeys, Red tailed monkeys, velvet monkeys, grey-checked mangabeys, golden monkeys, and many others. you will be able to spot chimpanzees as they jump from one tree to another and chatter and giggle. The trekking activity is done with the company of a trained park guide who will assist you during spotting and also answer back to any of your concerns. You’ll then return to your lodge in the evening for dinner and an overnight rest

Day 3- Canopy walk at Uwinka visitors center and a transfer to volcanoes national park
After an early morning breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and be driven to the Uwinka visitors center for a canopy walk where you will see and experience the beauty filled within the forest, you’ll also be able to view some primates such as golden monkeys including a variety of bird species like Kungwe Apaliser, Shelley crimson wing and, Grauer’s Warbl and others. After that wonderful experience, you will then be transferred to volcanoes national park. Upon arrival at the park, you will check in to your precious lodge, have dinner, and have an overnight stay

Day 4:  Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes national park and a visit to Ibyiwachu village
On day 4, you will wake up and have an early morning breakfast, head to Volcanoes national park headquarters for an orientation by the Rwanda Development Board officials and thereafter start the gorilla trekking activity. The Park rangers will guide you deep into the forest along the terrains on the search for the gorillas until you will finally encounter them. You will gain the best experience and also take as many pictures as you want with the gorillas because it’s not prohibited. After the gorilla trekking, you will return back to the lodge for lunch, relax a little till evening then pay a visit to ibyiwachu village for cultural experience of the Rwandan culture. You will later return to the lodge, have dinner, and a night’s rest

Day 5: A Transfer to Akagera national park
After having breakfast, you will check out of the lodge then our tour guide will pick you up and transfer you to Akagera national park which is 213 kilometers approximately a 4–5-hour drive. Upon arriving at the park, you will check in at your comfortable lodge, have lunch, and head in for an afternoon game drive where you will be able to see numerous wildlife animals such as buffaloes, crocodiles, hippos, lions, hyenas, oribis, klipspringer, cape eland, water-bucks, duikers, impalas, antelopes and many more including water bird species also. You will then return to the lodge, and have a delicious dinner followed by an overnight stay.

Day 6: Morning game drive in Akagera national park and boat cruise on lake ihema
On day 6, you will wake up and have a delicious morning breakfast then head to Akagera national park for a morning game drive within the lush savannah plains where you will encounter many animals like buffaloes, Hyenas, antelopes, warthogs, waterbucks, different antelope species among others. After the drive, you will return back to the lodge, have lunch, rest for a while till evening then go for a boat cruise on lake ihema the freshwater body where you will encounter various beautiful bird species like jacanas, hawks, malachite kingfisher, herons, plovers and more. You’ll then return to the lodge for dinner and a perfect night’s rest.

Day 7; Transfer to the airport for departure
On this day, you will wake up, have a leisurely breakfast, and check out of your lodge and our guide will transfer you to the airport in Kigali which is 98 kilometers approximately 1 to 2-hour drive. Upon arriving in Kigali, you will have a city tour depending on your schedule where you will visit Kimironko and Kicukiro markets as you shop a few items depending on your choice and preference. The guide will then drop you at the airport for your departure. This amazing 7-day tour ends here.
