The overview

This three-day Chimpanzee trekking safari takes you to Kibale Forest National Park in Western Uganda, which is one of Africa’s best rainforests and is roughly 795 kilometers by road from Kampala, Uganda’s capital. This park is home to approximately 13 primates, among which are Chimpanzees, which have a DNA similar to that of humans, as well as 70 species of animals and over 375 bird species.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Kibale national park

On this day, you will wake up early enough to eat breakfast, receive a briefing about the safari, and then drive to Kibale National Park in western Uganda. Stop in Fortportal for lunch before continuing on to the tea plantations or the Toro Crater lakes. Proceed to the Park and check into a prearranged lodge. You may go on a nature walk in the woods that evening and witness various wildlife species. Prepare for Chimpanzee trekking the next day with dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and after Bigodi wetland walk

After breakfast, the driver will drive you to the park information center, where you will be briefed alongside other visitors on what to do as well as what not to do when trekking chimps. Following that, you will go in search of chimps in the forest to make this trip unique. Chimp trekking may take 2 to 6 hours depending on the location of the chimps.

While tracking chimps, you will also be able to see various birds, monkeys like the black and white colobus, grey-cheeked Mangabey, golden monkeys, and other species of trees as you walk through the forest. Once you find the chimps, you will be allowed to spend an hour with them learning their behaviors and how they feed in their natural habitats. After spending time with the chimps, return to the lodge for lunch before being taken to Bigodi Wetland for a swamp walk where you will be able to see more primates such as red-tailed monkeys, baboons, bush pigs, LHoests Monkeys, otters, and others, along with bird species such as the great blue Turaco. At the conclusion of the day, you will have had a fantastic African experience because you will have seen how these individuals live and go about their daily lives, among other things. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Transfer back to Kampala and departure flight

After having breakfast, begin your drive back to Kampala, taking in the magnificent green countryside along the way. Depending on the time of your booked flight you will be taken to the airport or the lodge, this safari will come to a conclusion.
