The park is only a two-hour drive from Arusha and is near to Lake Manyara. It covers about 2850 square kilometres, making it Tanzania’s sixth-largest park and home to the highest concentration of species outside of the Serengeti. Tarangire is famous for its vast elephant herds, which may be seen up close. Other animals that are likely to be spotted in Tarangire include wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, gazelle, rhino, warthog, impala, python, lion, leopard, and over 50 bird species.
