Detailed Itinerary of 5days safari in Tanzania

Day 1: Transfer from Dar es Salaam to Selous game reserve

After breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel in Dar es Salaam and driven to Selous (Nyerere), a 4-hour trip through Tanzania’s most undeveloped and un-spoilt places.

Arrive in Selous in time for lunch, then embark on a boat excursion to see hippos and crocodiles in their natural habitat. Selous Game Reserve is home to a diverse range of large mammals and bird species, as well as the world’s largest population of African hunting dogs. Return to the lodge for dinner and a night’s rest.

Day 2: Full day game drive in Selous game reserve

After an early breakfast, you leave on an early morning game drive to explore Selous in search of early morning risers such as leopards, lions, wild dogs, hyenas, buffaloes, wildebeest, elands, hartebeest, crocodiles, lizards, and other residents. This shelter is home to around 300 different bird species. The rugged road network is consistently rewarding, especially during the dry season surrounding the lakes.

Following the game drive, you will return to the lodge for lunch and a little break. In the late afternoon, embark on a two-and-a-half-hour walking safari guided by an armed ranger. Walking safaris provide a more personal experience with the African wilderness. You will be able to touch nature and view the many footprints and droppings of various wild animals and little critters that you would not be able to witness during the game drive. Return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay after your walking safari.

Day 3: Drive to Masai community and transfer to Mikumi National park

After breakfast, you will begin your journey to Mikumi National Park, with a wildlife drive en route; this journey is one of Tanzania’s most magnificent and really wild and undisturbed areas. The journey will take you up into the Uluguru Mountains, past rivers, and through small local settlements and Masai farms. You will make a stopover in this Maasai community to see the life and traditions of Africa’s best-preserved tribe, the Masai warrior tribe. Learn about their methods of life, ancient stories, and many other elements. The trip is challenging, but it is also one of the most rewarding and adventurous on the southern circuit. Arrive at Mikumi in the evening for dinner and an overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 4: Full-day game drive at Mikumi National Park

After breakfast, depart from your camp or safari lodge for an early morning game drive in Mikumi, where you will be able to observe the early risers, especially large cats such as lions and leopards, as well as other unusual creatures when they are actively hunting.

Proceed on with the game drive and picnic lunch in the bush. You may observe elephant families, herds of giraffes, impalas, and antelopes, lions, wildebeests, buffalos, and a big number of zebras, wild birds, and crocodiles, among other things, in Mikumi National Park. Spend the entire day searching for and seeing wild animals in Mikumi’s huge territory. You will be driven back to the lodge in the evening for leisure, dinner, and an overnight stay.

Day 5: Transfer back to Dar es Salaam for departure

Following breakfast, you will depart for Dar Es Salaam, which is approximately three hundred kilometres southeast of Masai Village. The journey will take about 6 hours. You will be dropped off at your Dar es Salaam hotel or at the airport for your return trip. This 5days safari experience will eventually come to an end.
