Day 1: Pick up at Kilimanjaro International Airport and drive to Arusha

On the first day of this 14-day Safari Tanzania tour, your driver-guide will pick you up from Kilimanjaro International Airport and welcome you for your safari. He will then transfer you to your comfortable accommodation facility to check in, these facilities are in the cool, lush, green city of Arusha, which is less than an hour away. Depending on the time of arrival you will also have time to explore the city and the vibrant Maasai market where you will shop for souvenirs.

Day 2: Game drive in Arusha National Park & community walk.

After breakfast at 08:00 AM, enjoy a smooth morning drive to Arusha National Park which is a 45-minute drive away. Explore and discover this amazing landscape on a morning walking safari with armed guide rangers, then proceed with a game drive. Your game drive will take you through the park’s landmarks including the Ngurdoto Crater and Momella Lakes. You will enjoy fantastic views of the towering peaks of Mt Meru and Kilimanjaro. You will have a chance to spot the acrobatic Colobus Monkeys, Zebras, Giraffes, Buffaloes, Elephants, Hippos, Pink Flamingos, etc. This scenic little park of 137 km2 is very quiet and has a wide variety of animals and superb birdlife.  After a game drive, return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation. Day 3: Drive to Tarangire National Park and do an afternoon Game Drive

After an early delicious morning breakfast, you will be transferred to Tarangire National Park on a 3-hour drive upon arrival, Check in to your hotel or lodge for lunch and relaxation.

The Park is located slightly off the main safari route, Tarangire National Park is a lovely quiet park in Northern Tanzania that is most famous for its elephant migration, birding and quiet authentic safari atmosphere. The majority of travellers to the region either miss out on Tarangire altogether or venture into the park for a matter of hours leaving parts of Tarangire virtually untouched.

In the late afternoon after relaxing, embark on the evening game drive in Tarangire National Park and look out for different wildlife species such as elephants, buffalos, antelopes, zebras, lions, and leopards among others, in the evening when the sun has baked all water from the surrounding landscapes, massive herds of elephants, wildebeest, zebra, and impala, file in great numbers to the receding banks of the river. Masses of giraffes, buffalo, hartebeest, and gazelles crowd the receding waterholes. Predators like lions, hyenas, and leopards are drawn like a magnet to this buffet of concentrated prey. Day 4: Full day in Tarangire National Park, walking safari experience

Breakfast will be served at your lodge, which you shall enjoy leisurely. Proceed to the park, and enjoy yet another game drive to see various animals, like large herds of elephants. You will also enjoy seeing baobab trees during your safari, return to your camp or lodge for lunch, and a short relaxation.

Apart from being a quiet park, Tarangire is an amazing place, comprising granite ridges, river valleys, mixed vegetative landscapes, and swamps. It is one place in Tanzania where rare dry-country antelopes such as Bisa Oryx and Gerenuk are regularly seen. You will also look for Impalas, Waterbucks, Baboons, Cheetahs, Caracals, Honey Badgers, African wild dogs, and Dwarf Mongoose.

In the late afternoon guided walking safari and explore Tarangire National Park following animal tracks of species such as elephants, buffalos, waterbucks, antelopes, elands, impalas, giraffes and many others. Come up close with animals, an experience you shall enjoy. After your guided walking safari. This national park is also home to over 600 bird species which include the colourful Yellow-collared Lovebird, the Common Ostrich (the world’s largest bird), and the Kori Bustard (the heaviest flying bird in the world). The Park is also good for raptors. Raptors regularly seen include the Bateleur Eagle, Tawny Eagle, Long-Crested Eagle, Martial Eagle, Fish Eagle, and Spotted Eagle Owl. After a sumptuous breakfast at the lodge which you shall enjoy leisurely, proceed for a transfer to Lake Manyara National Park which is a 2-hour drive northwest and about 110km long. Lake Manyara National Park according to Ernest Hemingway was “the loveliest I had seen in Africa”. Lake Manyara National Park offers a compact game-viewing circuit, with Lake Manyara covering two-thirds of the park’s size. The Great Rift Valley gives a stunning backdrop. Check in at the lodge, and relax as you wait for lunch.

Lake Manyara National Park’s 325 km2 area is covered by the shallow, alkaline lake itself.  However, the park also has a variety of diverse habitats; acacia woodlands, wet forests, Baobab-strewn cliffs, algae-streaked hot springs, swamps, and of course the lake itself. It boasts over 670 flowering plants and over 400 bird species!

Afternoon, head out for an amazing game drive for an opportunity to see the famous tree climbing lions, see the large flocks of pink flamingos. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

In the afternoon, visit Mto wa Wambu village a place in Tanzania where there are representatives from all 120 tribes living happily side by side, continue by taking a village walk and discover the very social side of Africa’s rural life in Tanzania; from the small farms to schools, and markets. Observe the Makonde tribe’s intricate wood carving and tribal painting techniques and learn how the Chagga tribe brews their “Mbege”, traditional banana, and millet beer.

Enjoy a presentation by a Maasai woman on the impact of the project, and take a guided tour of the village, visiting traditional homes or bomas and helping build a new stove. Day 9: Another full-day game drive at Serengeti National Park

Early breakfast at the camp, followed by an early morning river game drive to view the great migration on crossing movement, with a picnic lunch. In the evening back to the camp for dinner and overnight.

The Park is well known for its healthy stock of other resident wildlife, particularly the “big five”, named for the five most prized trophies taken by hunters: Lion: The Serengeti is believed to hold the largest population of lions in Africa due in part to the abundance of prey species. Day 10: Another full-day game drive at Serengeti National Park

After an early morning breakfast, you will head into the park in search of wildlife like lions, Thomson gazelle, topi, ostrich and cheetahs. Later in the day, you will enjoy a relaxed picnic lunch in the park under the shade of the giant acacia trees. In the afternoon you will continue game driving around the Kopjes which are weathered granite outcrops, scattered around the plains, most of which are miniature ecosystems, providing shade and drinking water in pools left in the rock after the rains. This makes the kopjes particularly good for spotting wildlife in the dry seasons – including lions, which like to lie in wait for animals coming to drink, later you will return to the lodge for overnight.

After early morning breakfast you will drive back to Ngorongoro Conservation Area before your descent down into the crater. The massive collapsed volcano is home to over 20,000 mammals ranging from the Big Five – lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard – to spotted hyenas, rare wild dogs and some of the more than 500 bird species of the area. You will also see several of the area’s 500 bird species including Common Ostriches, Crowned Cranes, Southern ground hornbills, and flamingos.

After an extensive game drive and a picnic for lunch, you will leave the caldera in the afternoon and return to the lodge for dinner & overnight.

Day 13: Morning Crater Rim Walk and Drive Back to Arusha for Relaxation

After an early leisurely breakfast at the lodge. You will take a guided nature walk around the crater rim for dramatic crater photographs. You’ll hike through gorgeous foliage with colorful wildflowers, birds, and lush trees. Learn about the traditional medicinal uses of the various plants, as well as animal tracks and scat.

 

After the walk, you will be driven back to Arusha town for relaxation at the lodge. On this last you can opt to visit a Maasai village in the Ngorongoro highlands or not. You will spend time with the villagers, find out about their way of life, and join in their lively singing and dancing, which presents an opportunity to learn about some of the customary practices such as fire-making and beadwork.
