Detailed Itinerary of Tanzania and Zanzibar family Safari

Day 1: Transfer from Arusha to Tarangire national park

After an early breakfast, you will be picked up from your Arusha hotel and briefed about this 7 Days Tanzania Safari and Zanzibar safari. You will then be driven to Tarangire National Park, which is approximately 2 hours and 130 kilometers away and home to large herds of elephants and baobab trees. This park is comprised up of small hills on the Great Rift Valley’s floor and is situated along the Great Northern Parkway, which runs along Tarangire waterway waters. Check in your lodge, afterwards set out on a game drive in search of fascinating animals. Tarangire’s grassy plains are dotted with majestic massive Baobabs, Africa’s largest trees and a refuge for a diverse range of species. Elephants abound in this region, with some groups containing up to 300 individuals. Find herds of Zebras, Giraffes, Elands, Gazelles, Buffalos, Impalas, Wildebeests, Hartebeests, and Water buck, as well as Lions, Leopards, Hyenas, and Cheetahs that prey on them, and over 500 bird species, including the world’s largest bird, the Yellow-collared lovebird, and the Kori Bustard, the heaviest flying bird. Return to the lodge to relax for the evening and night.

Day 2: Transfer to Serengeti national park via Ngorongoro crater area

Following an early breakfast, you will travel to Ngorongoro Crater, where you will have an en-route lunch before descending two thousand feet to the crater floor. On the journey into the crater, learn some fascinating facts about this extraordinary natural wonder of Africa. Around 2.5 million years ago, a massive volcano exploded and collapsed on itself, creating the Ngorongoro Crater. It is the world’s biggest unbroken volcanic caldera, and it has been designated as a World Heritage Site and a sealed ecosystem! The grasslands of the crater are home to 25,000 large mammals and one of the finest places in East Africa to see the big five: lion, rhino, leopard, buffalo, and elephant.

After an adventure on Ngorongoro crater, in the late afternoon you embark on a drive to Serengeti plains where you will check in your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Day 7: Full day game drive in Serengeti national park

After breakfast at your Serengeti National Park lodge, you will go on a morning game watching excursion. Then return to your lodge for lunch before going on an afternoon wildlife drive. In the Maasai language, Serengeti signifies “Endless Plains.” The Park has the world’s highest number of plains animals.

Return to your lodge for dinner and the night after the complete game drive.

Day 4: Flight from Serengeti Pains to Zanzibar Island

You will check out of your lodge after an early morning meal and be driven to Seronera Airstrip, where you will board a flight to Zanzibar. When you arrive at Zanzibar International Airport, you will be received by your driver, who will transport you to per-booked hotel, where you will enjoy the rest of the day relaxing on the beach, dinner, and overnight.

Day 5: Boat ride to Prison Island, visit Stone town and spice tour

After breakfast at your hotel, you will go on a walking tour exploring the historic Stone Town, Zanzibar’s intriguing old quarter and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The town’s diverse architecture is testimony to the various cultures that inhabited this exotic island, including African, Arab, European, and Indian. Stroll through the bustling narrow streets and appreciate the historical architecture. Visit the local fruit and veggie market, the fish market, the Tip tipu house, and the National Museum. Visit the House of Marvels and the Old Slave Market, which is currently the site of Anglican Cathedral Church, a structure that shelters multiple memorials to the town’s unfortunate past, including one which comprises an altar constructed over the site of the flogging post.

After lunch, you will board a private boat from Stone Town to Prison Island, from where you will see the Giant tortoises and snorkel throughout your tour of the island. You will board a boat back to Stone Town and then proceed on a spice tour during which you will see various exotic spices and learn about the uses of spices such as cloves, cinnamon, and nutmeg, among others. Following the spice tour, return to your hotel for supper and the night.

Day 6: Relaxation at Zanzibar beach

After a leisurely breakfast, you’ll enjoy the rest of the day relaxing on the beach. Scuba diving, Snorkeling, Kayaking, Paddle-boarding, Kite surfing, Water skiing, Traditional dhow cruises, or a cycling tour to explore the local fishing communities are some of the optional events that can be easily organized in and around the beaches. After a wonderful day you will retire at your hotel for dinner and night stay

Day 7: Transfer to Zanzibar International airport for departure flight

After a leisurely breakfast at your hotel, you will be driven to the Zanzibar airstrip for your departure aircraft, which will put this safari to a close.
