The overview

This 5-day Kenya birding and photography safari brings you to famous locations to experience the greatest scenery, including the Great Rift Valley and the world-famous Masai Mara National Reserve. You will visit well-known tourist destinations like Lake Naivasha, Lake Nakuru, and Masai Mara Reserve in order to spot various bird species. Kenya has fantastic birdwatching changes throughout the year, but the ideal time to visit is from November to April since you will see many migrants from Europe and North Africa. Many bird species can also be observed in breeding plumage during the wet season.

The detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer from Nairobi to Lake Naivasha and do afternoon birding

After breakfast, our birding guide will come to pick you up and take you on a picturesque journey to Lake Naivasha along the Great North Road. You will stop at vantage points of the Great Rift Valley for breathtaking views before arriving at Lake Naivasha in time for lunch. After lunch, you are going to embark on a bird strolling safari in search of herons, black crakes, fish eagles, ospreys, lily-trotters, and other species while photographing them. You will also visit the Elsa mere Center in the evening. Return to your lodge in the evening for leisure, dinner, and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Transfer to Lake Nakuru national park for afternoon bird strolling

After breakfast, you will be transported to Lake Nakuru National Park which is known by devoted birders as the finest global ornithological spectacle on the planet, to see the millions of pink flamingos lining the lake’s shoreline. Before arriving at Lake Nakuru Lodge for lunch, you will enjoy a game drive end route to there. Later in the afternoon, take a walk around the lakeside to witness a variety of exotic animals such as the White Rhino, Black Rhino, and Rothschild Giraffe. You will be on the lookout for species such as the lesser and Greater Flamingos, Tawny Eagle, African Fish Eagle, Cliff Chat, Green Wood Hoopoes, Great White and Pink Backed Pelicans, and other intra-African migrants before retiring to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer to Masai mara reserve

After breakfast, begin the day by traveling across the enormous rift valley plain towards the Masai Mara game reserve. Masai Mara is situated in the northern part of the Great Plains habitat, adjacent to the Serengeti. The Mara is home to many wildlife, including the “big five” lion, rhino, buffalo, leopard, and elephant, as well as cheetah, giraffe, zebra, and enormous herds of plain antelope. You will settle into your pre-booked lodge, eat lunch, relax, and then go on a game drive in search of the big five and a variety of bird species. Take stunning shots as the sun begins to set over the lovely Mara undulating plains. In the evening return to your lodge for dinner and a night’s stay.

Day 4: Full-day birding at Masai mara reserve

Rise up promptly for breakfast and spend the day bird watching in looking for Abdim’s stork, African finfoot, Jackson’s widowbird, African wood owl, Ayres’s hawk-eagle, Cinnamon-breasted bunting, Denham’s bustard, and other species. The great kingfisher, Grey-crested helmet-shrike, Grey penduline tit, Hildebrandt’s starling, White-bellied go-away bird Ostrich, lazy cisticola Ross’s turaco, Rosy-throated longclaw, Southern ground hornbill, Rufous-bellied heron, Rufous-throated wryneck, Saddle-billed stork The turaco of Schalow, Mr. Secretary Bird, the silver bird, Swahili sparrow, Tabora cisticola, Temminck’s courser, Purple grenadier, Trilling cisticola, Usambiro barbet, Woolly-necked stork, and Yellow-mantled widowbird. Return to your lodge for dinner and night stay

Day 5: Drive back to Nairobi city for departure

After a relaxing breakfast, depart for Nairobi, arriving in time for lunch at one of the city’s eateries serving a variety of local cuisines. After that, you will be taken to the airport for your planned flight, which will bring your safari to a close.
