Welcome to the land of a thousand hills.
Your guide meets you on arrival, takes you through the trip plan and transfers you to your hotel in Kigali.

Akagera NP — Lake Ihema Boat Cruise & Game Drive
Hippos and crocodiles on the lake, big game on the savannah.
A 2-hour drive to Akagera National Park in time for a boat cruise on Lake Ihema with hippos and crocodiles, followed by a game drive for lions, leopards, elephants and buffaloes, and an evening sundowner.

Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Drive via Kigali to the Virunga volcanoes.
Drive back through Kigali for lunch and continue to Volcanoes National Park (about 5 hours in total).

Morning briefing and an hour with a mountain gorilla family.
Early briefing at the park headquarters, then trek to your first gorilla family — usually about half a day. Optional afternoon visit to the Dian Fossey campus.

Second Gorilla Trek — A Different Family
A second encounter with a new gorilla family.
Trek again, this time to a different gorilla family with its own personalities and dynamics. In the evening, an optional Iby’iwacu cultural performance.

Tea Plantations & Lake Kivu Boat Cruise
Visit a tea estate, then cruise Lake Kivu at sunset.
Drive to Lake Kivu, visiting tea plantations on the way. Take a boat cruise to the hot springs, watch local fishermen at work and enjoy the sunset, with distant views of the Nyiragongo volcano.

Return to Kigali & Departure
Drive back to Kigali, with time for a craft market.
Drive 4–5 hours back to Kigali. Depending on your flight, visit Kimironko market for local crafts before your departure.
