Day by day Itinerary 3days of Lake Natron and Lengai hiking
Day 1: Transfer from Arusha to Lake Natron
Our driver guide will pick you up from your hotel in Arusha in the morning and take you for approximately four to five hours drive to Lake Natron. Driving across the Great Eastern Rift Valley on the way to Oldoinyo Lengai hiking adventure, pass via Mto wa Mbu hamlet. See wild creatures and also meet Masai people. Arrive at the resort at Oldoinyo Lengai Mountain in the afternoon. After lunch and some rest, you will continue on an evening stroll to explore the waterfalls and Masai settlements in the area. Day 2: Hike Mount Oldonyo lengai
After drinking hot tea, the driver will transport you to the mountain’s base at midnight. It is the starting point for the climbing experience. This mountain, which has an elevation of 2,962 meters.
It is located in northern Tanzania, just south of Lake Natron in the Rift Valley, in the heart of Maasai territory, and is considered a sacred mountain by the Maasai. Lake Natron’s hot desolate salt flats extend into the distance as seen from its summit crater. The crater Highlands and the Ngorongoro Game Reserve are located to the south. Kilimanjaro dominates the eastern horizons, while the western slopes of the Rift Valley are dominated by forested escarpments and hills. Every seven years, Lengai erupts, spewing plumes of smoke from the crater.
The ascent to the summit is demanding and strenuous, so walk gently with your guide. Oldoinyo lengai is a Masai word that means “God’s Mountain.” The trek up this volcanic mountain, which produces natrocarbonatite lava, takes around 6-7 hours. Take pictures and enjoy the spectacular morning sunrise waves after reaching the summit. After a short respite in the morning, you descend to the mountain’s base in 3-4 hours. You will be taken to the lodge for rest for a full day.

Day 3: Walking safari around Lake Natron and transfer back to Arusha
Lake Natron is located in northern Tanzania. Arusha in Tanzania and Magadi in Kenya are the closest settlements to Lake Natron. It is the world’s biggest breeding ground for Lesser Flamingos.
East Africa is home to 1.5-2.5 million Lesser Flamingos, accounting for three-quarters of the world population, with the majority of birds hatching at Lake Natron. Food is plentiful, nesting places abound, and, most importantly, the lake is remote and unspoiled. The lake and its environment provide a source of income for the surrounding villages.
After breakfast, take a walk around the lake to see the neighboring streams and waterfalls. Explore this lovely lake and spot flamingos. You return to the lodge for lunch, afterwards drive back to Arusha, where you will be dropped off at your hotel, putting this 3day OLDOINYO LENGAI HIKING safari and lake Natron to a close.
