On the first day of your safari, you will be picked up from your hotel in Dar es Salaam or the airport and driven to Mikumi National Park via the Dar es Salaam-Morogoro highway. The park is located within the Uluguru Mountains of the Ancient Eastern Arc Mountains to the east and the Great Rift Valley Escarpments to the west. Driving time from Dar es Salaam to Mikumi is 5 to 6 hours. You will arrive in the afternoon and settle into the lodge for lunch and rest.

In the afternoon, go on a game drive to witness elephants, lions, wild dogs, zebras, hyenas, buffalo, wildebeest, eland, hartebeest, crocodiles, lizards, and other residents. More than 300 bird species have been identified, including Eurasian migrants such as the red-billed oxpecker, marabou stork, and lilac-breasted roller. Day 2: Morning walking safari, game drive and Masaai cultural exploration

After the walking safari, go on a game drive to see more of Mikumi National Park, which is part of the greater Selous Ecosystem, together with the Selous Game Reserve, and is home to a diverse range of bird and mammal species. There’s also a chance you’ll witness a lion climbing a tree trunk.

Day 4: Game drive and Boat cruise

After breakfast, go on a morning game drive to see some of the early risers and some of the nocturnal species return to their hiding places. Among the species you will see are lions, zebras, spotted hyenas, sable antelopes, buffaloes, big-eyed Rondo Galago, elephants, waterbucks, wildebeests, warthogs, giraffes, and hartebeests.

After lunch, go on a boat ride safari. Saadani National Park is remarkable in that it is Tanzania’s only park that extends all the way to the Indian Ocean, creating an enthralling habitat where land and sea collide. The boat safari follows the Wami River through the park until it touches the ocean. You will encounter a variety of wildlife species in their natural habitat as you sail along the river, including hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of bird species that inhabit the riverbanks. Elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, and other creatures have been spotted drinking from the river.

The boat safari is also a great way to see the stunning grandeur of Saadani National Park, which includes rich riverine forests, savannas, and clean beaches. There are also a variety of other activities available, such as birding tours and visits to fishing settlements. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight in the evening.
