Arrival in Kigali

Welcome to Rwanda — the land of a thousand hills.

Arrive at Kigali International Airport. Transfer to your hotel and enjoy a welcome dinner. Briefing on your 7-day adventure across three national parks.

Transfer to Nyungwe Forest

Scenic drive through tea plantations to the ancient rainforest.

Drive south through Rwanda’s stunning landscapes, passing Huye (Butare) and the National Museum. Continue through rolling tea plantations to Nyungwe Forest National Park, one of Africa’s oldest rainforests. Afternoon nature walk along forest trails.

Chimpanzee Trekking & Canopy Walk

Trek to find wild chimps and walk above the forest canopy.

Early morning chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe Forest — track habituated chimps through dense montane rainforest. Spend an hour observing their social behavior. Afternoon adventure on the famous Canopy Walkway, suspended 50 meters above the forest floor with breathtaking views.

One&Beyond Nyungwe House or similar

Transfer to Volcanoes NP

Journey north to gorilla country.

Drive north across Rwanda to Musanze, gateway to Volcanoes National Park. Stop at Lake Kivu for lunch with panoramic lake views. Arrive at your lodge nestled at the foot of the Virunga volcanoes. Afternoon visit to the Iby’iwacu Cultural Village to learn about the former poachers turned conservationists.

Mountain Gorilla View Lodge or similar

Gorilla Trekking

The ultimate wildlife encounter — mountain gorillas.

Morning briefing at park headquarters, then trek into the bamboo forests of Volcanoes National Park. Find your assigned gorilla family and spend one magical hour observing silverbacks, mothers, and playful juveniles in their natural habitat. Collect your trekking certificate. Afternoon at leisure.

Akagera NP — Game Drives & Boat Cruise

Big Five safari and boat cruise in Rwanda’s savanna park.

Early transfer to Akagera National Park, Rwanda’s only Big Five savanna park. Morning game drive spotting lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, and buffalo. Afternoon boat cruise on Lake Ihema with hippos, crocodiles, and waterbirds. Sundowner drinks overlooking the savanna.

Magashi Camp or Akagera Game Lodge

Morning Game Drive & Departure

Final safari and return to Kigali.

Early morning game drive for last wildlife sightings. Transfer back to Kigali with a stop at the Kigali Genocide Memorial. Farewell lunch and transfer to the airport for departure.
