Arrival & Kakamega Forest

Arrive in Nairobi and transfer to Kakamega Forest for introductory birding.

Arrive and drive to Kakamega Forest, Kenya's last remaining tropical rainforest. Evening birding for sunbirds, turacos, and forest-edge species.

Overnight: Rondo Retreat Kakamega

Lake Nakuru — Flamingo Spectacle

Full-day birding at Lake Nakuru for flamingos and waterbirds.

Transfer to Lake Nakuru National Park. Thousands of Lesser and Greater Flamingos line the alkaline lake. Also target African Fish Eagle, Grey Crowned Crane, Hartlaub's Bustard, and the rare Rothschild's Giraffe.

Lake Baringo Boat Safari

Boat safari through papyrus channels scanning for waterbirds.

Morning boat safari on Lake Baringo gliding through papyrus channels. Target Goliath Heron, African Darter, Northern Carmine Bee-eater, Jackson's Widowbird. Afternoon birding walk along the lakeshore and cliff faces.

Overnight: Soi Safari Lodge Baringo

Masai Mara Grassland Birding

Birding the savanna grasslands of Masai Mara.

Drive to Masai Mara National Reserve. Birding across open grasslands for Secretary Bird, Lilac-breasted Roller, Rosy-throated Longclaw, Grey-crested Helmetshrike. Combine with photography of big cats and wildlife.

Overnight: Mara Serena Safari Lodge

Lake Naivasha & Departure

Final birding stop at Lake Naivasha before departure.

Morning birding at Lake Naivasha for African Fish Eagle, Malachite Kingfisher, Black Crake. Transfer to Nairobi for departure flights.
