2 Days Gorilla Trekking Safari Rwanda

Begin your safari with a Kigali city exploration visiting key landmarks including the Kigali Genocide Memorial and vibrant local markets. After lunch, depart for the scenic 2.5-hour drive northwest to Musanze (Ruhengeri), passing through Rwanda’s famously beautiful terraced hillsides. Arrive at your lodge nestled at the base of the Virunga volcanoes with stunning views of the mist-covered peaks. In the evening, receive a briefing about tomorrow’s gorilla trek over dinner featuring Rwandan cuisine.

Wake early and drive to Volcanoes National Park headquarters for the morning briefing. Rangers assign your group to one of the habituated gorilla families. Set off into the misty bamboo forests and volcanic slopes, following expert trackers. The trek can take 1 to 4 hours depending on the gorilla family’s location. Upon finding them, spend an incredible one hour observing silverbacks, mothers nursing their young, and juveniles playing. After the trek, collect your gorilla trekking certificate, enjoy lunch at the lodge, then transfer back to Kigali arriving in the evening.
