Bagamoyo is a 1-1.5 hour drive from Dar es Salaam. Most visitors combine it with a Tanzania safari — it’s the perfect beach extension before or after visiting the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, or Tarangire.
Bagamoyo enjoys a tropical climate. The best months are June to October (dry and slightly cooler) and January to February. The long rains (March-May) can make some roads muddy but the town remains accessible.
