Detailed itinerary for 6 days on Rwanda safari
DAY 1; ARRIVAL AT THE AIRPORT FOLLOWED BY TRANSFER TO AKAGERA NATIONAL PARK
Our guide will meet you upon your arrival at the airport and transfer you to Akagera national park which is an approximately 4–5-hour drive. The Park is the only wildlife park in Rwanda yet it’s the smallest among the 3 Rwanda national parks. Upon arriving at the park, you will check in at your comfortable lodge, have lunch, and head in for an afternoon game drive where you will be able to see numerous wildlife animals such as buffaloes, crocodiles, hippos, lions, hyenas, oribis, klipspringer, cape eland, water-bucks, duikers, impalas, antelopes and many more including water bird species also. You will then return to the lodge, and have a delicious dinner followed by an overnight stay.

DAY 2; MORNING GAME DRIVE IN AKAGERA NATIONAL PARK AND BOAT CRUISE ON LAKE IHEMA.
Have a delicious morning breakfast and head into Akagera national park for a morning game drive in the lush savannah plains where you shall encounter various wildlife animals like buffaloes, Hyenas, antelopes, warthogs, waterbucks, different antelope species among others. After the drive, return back to the lodge for lunch, rest a little till evening, and proceed for a boat cruise on lake ihema the freshwater body where you will gain views of various beautiful bird species like jacanas, hawks, malachite kingfisher, herons, plovers and more. You’ll return to the lodge for dinner and a perfect night’s rest.

DAY 3: TRANSFER TO VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK IN RWANDA
Have a leisurely breakfast, check out of your lodge, and head in for a transfer to Volcanoes National Park. During the transfer drive, you shall enjoy the scenic hill views including views of the Virunga Volcanoes throughout your transfer. Upon arrival at Volcanoes National Park, you’ll check in to your lodge, have dinner, and an overnight rest

DAY 4: GORILLA TREKKING IN VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK FOLLOWED BY TRANSFER TO NYUNGWE NATIONAL PARK
Wake up, have an early morning breakfast, and head to Volcanoes national park headquarters for a briefing by the Rwanda Development Board officials ahead of your gorilla trekking activity. The Park rangers will guide you deep into the forest along the terrains on the search for the gorillas until you will finally encounter them. You will gain the best experience and also take as many pictures as you want with the gorillas as it’s not prohibited. After the trekking, return to the lodge for lunch and proceed for a transfer to Nyungwe National Park in the southwestern part of the country for a chimpanzee and canopy walkway tour.

DAY 5; CANOPY WALK EXPERIENCE IN NYUNGWE RAINFOREST
After an early morning breakfast, head into the Nyungwe rainforest for a canopy walk. During the walk, you shall see and experience the beauty filled within the forest as you also be able to view some primates such as golden monkeys including a variety of bird species like Kungwe Apaliser, Shelley crimson wing, Grauer’s Warbler, and others. Return to the lodge for lunch and have a relaxation as you await dinner and overnight rest

DAY 6: CHIMPANZEE TRACKING IN NYUNGWE FOREST NATIONAL PARK FOLLOWED BY TRANSFER TO THE AIRPORT
Have an early morning breakfast and head to the park headquarters for an orientation including registration ahead of your chimp trekking activity. Nyungwe forest is home to many unique primates such as Angola monkeys, Red tailed monkeys, velvet monkeys, grey-checked mangabeys, golden monkeys, and many others. You shall spot chimpanzees as they jump from one tree to another with chatter and giggle sounds. The trekking activity is done with the company of a trained park guide who will assist you during spotting and as they answer back to any of your questions. You’ll then return to your lodge ahead of your transfer journey to the airport via Kigali for a drop-off at the airport.
