How to get to Ngorongoro conservation area.
Ngorongoro conservation area can be arrived at by either air or road. The conservation area is located west of Arusha which is about 180 kilometers which are approximately 110 miles from Arusha town. By road, visitors can arrive at the conservation area by use of a 4-wheel vehicle which will take them about 2 hours from Arusha to reach the conservation area. By air, visitors can access the conservation area by flying from Kilimanjaro International Airport which is about 46 kilometers (29 miles) from Arusha straight to any of the airstrips in the Ngorongoro area. Another option by air is to fly into Julius Nyerere International Airport and then connect to either Arusha Airport or Kilimanjaro International Airport which then you can head to any of the airstrips in the Ngorongoro area
BEST TIME TO PAY A VISIT TO NGORONGORO CONSERVATION AREA
Visiting the Ngorongoro conservation area can be done anytime throughout the year, however, the perfect and recommendable time to visit the conservation area is during the dry season which is from June to October as it is the ideal period to view several wildlife animals within the area. Wildlife viewing during this period is easier because of the thin vegetation and animals also gather near waterholes and other water sources during this period. The rains are usually little which makes the chances of contracting malaria very less but you can still carry a mosquito repellent for extra protection. The dry season is also the peak season for visitors as many visitors flock to the conservation area during this period. The other period to visit the park is the wet season which is from November to May. The wet season is the best period to view the migratory birds from Asia and other parts of Europe. During this period, the conservation area is filled with beautiful green scenery and landscape although the visitors are usually fewer.

The temperatures of the Ngorongoro conservation area are mild in day time and a little bit colder during the night. The average temperatures are a little higher From September to April which is around 23°C or 73°F and lower from May to August which is around 19°C or 66°F although not with that much difference in their average temperatures. The night temperature around the Ngorongoro crater rim is about 6°C or 43°F. For vegetation, there are variations in the vegetation types within the conservation area from one region to another due to the various altitude levels and landform types within the area. The upland woodlands of the area comprise of red thorns and gum acacia, the steeps of Ngorongoro consist of grasslands and evergreen trees, the mountain regions are occupied by the bamboo type of vegetation and lastly, the Ngorongoro crater floor is occupied by marshes and acacia vegetation type.
