Kigali to Akagera — Afternoon Game Drive
Drive east through rural Rwanda to Akagera.
Your driver picks you up in Kigali for the 2.5-hour drive to Akagera National Park through the countryside of Rwamagana, home of the long-horned Inyambo cattle. After lunch, head out on an afternoon game drive.

Akagera Game Drive & Lake Ihema Boat Cruise
Northern plains, Mutumba hills and a cruise among hippos.
Explore the north of the park up to Mutumba, Akagera’s highest point, with views over the plains and lakes, looking for buffaloes, elephants, giraffes and more. Later, take a boat cruise on Lake Ihema with hippos, crocodiles and water birds.

Transfer to Volcanoes NP & Musanze Caves
Drive to the Virungas and explore ancient lava caves.
A 4–5 hour drive to Volcanoes National Park. After checking in, visit the Musanze Caves, formed by volcanic activity millions of years ago, and learn about their history.

Gorilla Trekking & Twin Lakes
An hour with mountain gorillas, then Lakes Burera and Ruhondo.
After a briefing at Kinigi park headquarters, trek (2–6 hours) through bamboo forest to your assigned gorilla family and spend an hour with them. Later, enjoy the scenery of the Ruhondo and Burera twin lakes.

Rwandan culture and dance, then on to the lakeshore.
