Arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and transfer to your Nairobi hotel. Meet your safari guide for a welcome briefing and overview of the incredible 14-day journey ahead. Rest and acclimatize after your flight. Optional visit to the Giraffe Centre or David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage (at extra cost).
Depart Nairobi early and drive north through the central highlands to Samburu National Reserve. Arrive at your riverside lodge and enjoy an afternoon game drive along the banks of the Ewaso Ng’iro River. Begin your search for the rare Samburu Special Five — reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, gerenuk, Beisa oryx, and Somali ostrich.
Full day exploring Samburu with morning and afternoon game drives. Track the rare Special Five, large elephant herds, and Samburu’s famous leopards. The rugged, semi-arid landscape is dramatically different from southern Kenya. Optional visit to a Samburu community village (at extra cost).
Drive south from the dry bushlands of Samburu to the lush montane forests of Mt Kenya. Arrive at the Serena Mountain Lodge, nestled in indigenous forest overlooking a floodlit waterhole. Afternoon nature walk through the forest to spot colobus monkeys and forest birdlife. Watch elephants and buffalo visit the salt lick after dark.
Transfer to the Aberdare National Park and check into The Ark Lodge, a unique treehouse-style lodge overlooking a floodlit waterhole and salt lick. Spend the evening watching elephants, buffalo, giant forest hogs, and occasionally leopards and hyenas visiting the waterhole. A buzzer in each room alerts guests when rare animals appear.
Depart the Aberdares and drive west to Lake Nakuru National Park. Arrive in time for an afternoon game drive along the lakeshore. Lake Nakuru is famous for its vast flocks of flamingos and is a rhino sanctuary — one of Kenya’s best places to spot both black and white rhinos.
Morning game drive at Nakuru for final flamingo and rhino sightings. After lunch, drive to nearby Lake Naivasha. Enjoy an afternoon boat ride on the freshwater lake to spot hippos, fish eagles, and pelicans. Optional cycling through Hell’s Gate National Park (at extra cost).
Drive west from Lake Naivasha to the world-famous Maasai Mara National Reserve. Arrive at your hilltop lodge overlooking the Mara plains. Afternoon game drive through the vast grasslands — the Mara hosts the greatest concentration of wildlife in Africa and is home to the Big Five.
Full day exploring the Maasai Mara with morning and afternoon game drives. Track lions across the open plains, search for leopards in the riverine woodland, and visit the Mara River for hippo and crocodile sightings. During migration season, witness millions of wildebeest and zebra on the move.
Third day in the Mara exploring the less-visited Mara Triangle sector, known for exceptional big cat sightings and dramatic river crossings. Optional early morning hot air balloon safari over the Mara (at extra cost). Optional visit to a Maasai cultural village to learn about traditional warrior culture.
Depart the Mara and drive south to Amboseli National Park at the foot of Mt Kilimanjaro. The long drive passes through diverse Kenyan landscapes. Arrive at your lodge in the evening for dinner and rest. Amboseli is famous for its large elephant herds and stunning Kilimanjaro views.
Full day in Amboseli with morning and afternoon game drives. Watch massive elephant herds crossing the dusty plains with the snow-capped peak of Mt Kilimanjaro towering behind them — one of Africa’s most iconic sights. Also spot lions, cheetahs, hippos, and vast flocks of waterbirds in the park’s swamps.
Drive east from Amboseli to Tsavo East National Park — one of Kenya’s largest and wildest parks. Arrive at your lodge overlooking a waterhole and enjoy an afternoon game drive. Tsavo is famous for its red elephants (dusted in the park’s red soil), large lion prides, and the scenic Galana River. Visit Mudanda Rock, a massive inselberg used as a water catchment by wildlife.
Final morning game drive in Tsavo East, then drive west along the Nairobi–Mombasa highway back to the capital. Arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in the afternoon for your onward flight. End of an extraordinary 14-day journey through the best of Kenya — from the semi-arid north to the snow-capped south, covering 9 national parks and reserves.
